Maggie's - a place for people with cancer

Season 2013-2014 was not, in all honesty, "ontheroads" finest! But, in spite of my personal illness problems, and Kev losing a dearly beloved family member, we still managed to get in 113 games with a goals tally of 472. Based on that total we would have raised £236.00 if we'd have been blogging @ £0.25 each per goal.

Hopefully season 2014-2015 will see us beat that goal tally, and maybe with a few kind donations along the way we will be able to donate something in the area of £500.00 to our nominated charity, Maggie's.

I was actually debating whether I could be bothered with producing a blog for an eighth consecutive season, then Kev brought up the idea of resurrecting the chariblog idea, with the proviso the we helped a cancer charity. Kev's Mother-In-Law lost her battle with cancer late last year, and he feels that maybe we could make a contribution to a local charity that helps cancer sufferers in one way or another. After much debate, we arrived at our choice...

Maggie's  Nottingham is based in the City Hospital Campus, and is a place where people with cancer can go to seek solace and support, if and when they feel the need.

When I mentioned the idea to my employers, they readily agreed to add a £0.25 per goal contribution - A.N. Wallis & Co. Ltd, thank you very much!!

Malc          £0.25 per goal
Kev           £0.25 per goal
A.N.Wallis £0.25 per goal

If we happen to select a game that ends 0-0, we will both add £1.00 to the kitty. Also - for each game that we go to that doesn't collect an admission fee, we will add a further £1.00 to the total.

Should be starting pre-season games towards the end of July - and we will be adding cash for goals scored in these games. We will not be actively asking for donations from anyone - but on the other hand, they will not be turned down! Rob Hornby has already made a contribution - and we ain't started yet!
