Santos gained more ground on league leaders Bridgford with a comfortable 3-0 win away at Vernon Villa. Daniel Walker, Connor Scott-Parkin and the league's top scorer Carl Wilson all bagging for the visitors.
Crusader FC claimed another fine win over Nottingham Sikh Lions.
Crusader took the lead early in the first half with a fine volley from Lee Tate, but the Lions hit back quickly through Ayaz Khan after a defensive mix up. He
quickly doubled his tally to put the Lions in front.
Crusader made an early
substitute to inject some pace up front in the shape of Luke Davies, and he quickly
pegged NSL back with a smart finish. With the second half drawing to an end and the
game heading for a draw Luke Davies broke through the NSL defence to deliver an
unmissable chance for Dane Simpson to take all 3 points for Crusader FC.
Boots Athletic Res were held 1-1 at home to visitors FC Geordie. Mark
Harrison kept up his fine goal scoring form to make it 20 for the season for
Boots, but it wasn't enough to take all 3 points as Jake Surgey slotted home smartly to take a point home for Geordie.

AFC Bridgford dropped two valuable points after being held 1-1 at home by AFC Top Valley. Top Valley took the lead in the first half through Danny Clamp with a smart low driven finish past the keeper after a defensive mix up by the Bridgford back four. In the second half Bridgford improved and started creating chances and were awarded a penalty which was excellently saved by the Valley keeper, but Callum Lawson scored from the resulting corner.
Santos are now breathing down the necks of Bridgford after a comfortable 3-1 home win against visitors Boots Res. As a result Santos are now just 9 points adrift with 5 games in hand. Regular scorers Carl Wilson, Kieran Wheat and Dean Bussey all scoring for Santos and in form boots forward Mark Harrison bagging for the visitors.
Strelley Rose moved up to fourth place with a 3-1 home win against relegation threatened Netherfield Albion Res. Duane Haywood, Liam Perry and Jarvel Bertram all scoring for the home side, with Dennis Hickey replying for the visitors.
The final game played on Saturday was at Gedling Southbank where they held Nottm Sikh Lions to a one all draw. GSA took the lead in this uneventful game and Steve Barrett levelled for the visitors who just seem to be going through the motions in what has been a disappointing few weeks for the Lions.

AFC
Bridgford kept up their fine form with a fantastic 4-2 away win at FC Geordie,
Tom Edwards and Jake Henson both grabbing braces for the visitors. Geordie's
marksman Craig Martin also bagged a brace to keep his fine run of scoring
going, but it wasn’t enough to halt the Bridgford title push.
Ina City
kept their title hopes alive by brushing aside Strelley rose 6-1 at home,
Jordan Smikle 2, Aaron Ramsay, Theo Staff, Ian Richards and Aaron Montague
completing the rout with a solitary strike from Edward Jackson for Strelley in
a very comfortable win for Ina City.
The big
shock of the day came at Boots Athletic Res where they beat much fancied title
favourites Santos 3-0 at home. Walters, Morris and Harrison all netted for the
home team in this fantastic victory that has thrown the title wide open and
dented Santos’ title challenge. They are still playing catch up with games in
hand, but sometimes it’s better to have the points on the board at this stage.
It is going to be an exciting and interesting final run in for the top three
teams who are all finely poised to lift the trophy.
Crusader FC
finally got back to winning ways with a win that has all but ended Nottingham
Sikh Lions title defence with a fine 6-4 victory. Sikh Lions took the lead with
a headed goal by Ricky Jouhall from a corner against the run of play, but
within minutes Crusader hit back with a thunderous 30 yard strike from Jordan
Harrison. NSL went in at half time 2-1 to the good thanks to a headed goal by
Zeeshan Ahmed from a corner, the wind really playing a big factor in this game
of two halves.
After the
break, Crusader took full control of the game with the wind behind them, consistently
carving chance after chance from which stand in striker Joe Phillips took full
advantage with a marvellous second half, four goal demolition of the visitors,
assisted by some excellent midfield play from Caine Walker, Dane Simpson and
Lee Tate. In between the four goal haul, Captain Lee Tate managed to end his
long running goal draught with a superb 20 yard strike to round off an
excellent win. Vishu Passi and Ricky Jouhal did add late goals for the Lions,
but it was too little too late.
West 8 all
but cemented their place in the Premier division with a fine 3-2 away win at
Nottm Community. Lance Thurgood and Luke Drysdale netted for the home team, but
fine goals from Kyle Keetley 2 and Guy Langon were enough for West 8 to take
all 3 points back home with them.
AFC Top
Valley recorded a much needed 3-0 home win against visitors Netherfield Albion
Reserves, and open a 5 point gap between themselves and the relegation
threatened teams with this very comfortable win. Joe Gunn, Jack Swift and Umberto Caoduro all
netted for the home team to give them a little more breathing space going into
the final run of games.

AFC Bridgford managed to stay at the top of the pile with a
2-0 away win against Crusader FC in what was a very scrappy, tight game.
Bridgford took the lead through a first half own goal which took about five
deflections from a Tom Edwards header that eventually hit a stranded Lee Tate
and dropped into the net. The second half was another scrappy affair but
Bridgford managed to wrap up the points with a close range powerful headed goal
from Jaspal Sidhu to keep their title hopes alive.
Santos knocked Ina City off second spot with a fine 3-1
victory at home to put the pressure on AFC Bridgford. Top marksman Carl Wilson
grabbed another two goals in an already excellent season for Santos, with Bussy adding a third. City did manage to pull a goal back but it was never
going to be enough to halt the title favourites.
Nottingham Sikh Lions brushed aside Gedling Southbank ‘A’
with an easy 5-1 home win to keep alive their faint title hopes. There were a
couple of braces from Ayaz Khan and Zeeshan Ahmed, with Steve Barrett adding a fifth - Delane Hylton grabbed
a consolation goal for the visitors to wrap up proceedings.
Strelley Rose were held to a 1-1 draw at home by visitors
AFC Top Valley, Red Wilmot bagging for the home team and Joe Gunn responding
for the visitors.
FC Geordie kept their fine form going with a fine 4-2 away
win at Netherfield Albion Res, Craig Martin with a couple, David Carlin and William
Armstrong both netting one apiece. Netherfield scorers were Dan Huskinson and
Ozgur Kosar in what is turning out to be a very difficult season for the hosts.
Nottingham Community recorded a fine 2-1 away win at
Vernon Villa with goals from Mark Foster and Bruno Phinero for the visitors, with Nicky Rose scoring for the hosts.
West 8 were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Boots Athletic, Mark Harrison keeping his fine form going with the goal for the visitors.

This week was quarter finals day
for much of the Premier Division in the Notts Amateur Alliance and the league
leaders AFC Bridgford were up against local rivals Crusader FC in a rip roaring
fiercely competitive tie. For 90 minutes this was a battle across the pitch, with
Crusader edging the tie thanks to a fine display of possession and attacking
football. The Bridgford defence stood tall and strong in a tactical tight game
that saw very few clear cut chances carved out for either team.
In the first period of extra time
Crusader came flying out of the blocks and a fine opportunist strike from top
marksman Luke Davies fired the home side into the lead, but Bridgford pegged
Crusader back with a goal direct from an Adam Bass corner. It was a cruel and
telling blow for Crusaders as the wind seemed to grab the ball and cruelly whip
it past the stranded keeper.
In the second half of extra time
Crusader were starting to look very tired and when a defensive clearance fell
to Tom Edwards he lashed home from 10 yards. Bridgford were now well on top and
finished off Crusaders’ cup journey when Callum Lawson pounced on a defensive
error to smash home from close range and put Bridgford into the semis.
Santos kept the dream of a double
alive with a comfortable away win to Nottingham Community, running out 4-1
winners. Dean Longdon grabbed a brace to
add to his seasons tally and experienced marksman Carl Wilson added to his
already impressive season’s total. Mark Foster’s OG rounded off the Santos
scoring, whilst a solitary strike from Luke Drysdale for Nottm Community ended
proceedings - the result keeping the Santos march to a very successful season on
track.
The shock of the day came at Division
1 outfit Ashfield Athletic. They overcame Premier Division high flyers Nottingham
Sikh Lions with a narrow 2-1 victory that sends them into the semi-finals and give
proof that the magic of the cup is alive and kicking no matter what level or
standard you are in.
This was a game dominated in
possession by the Lions but they struggled to break down a resolute and
stubborn Ashfield defence who took their chances when they came and Sikh Lions
had no answer and crashed out of the cup.
In the league Strelley Rose
climbed to fourth in the table with a crushing 6-1 win away to relegation
threatened Netherfield Albion Reserves. The Rose boasted six different scorers
with Dean Simpson, Anthony Gregory, Red Wilmot, Eddy Jackson and Shyan Lawrence
all bagging, and Justyn Curtis scoring a goal with a fine individual strike that
was described by the Rose manager as the goal of the season. Netherfield did manage to get on the score
sheet with a consolation goal from Frank Oloton.
FC Geordie got back to winning
ways with a fine 5-2 win against visitors West 8, James Cairney bagging a brace
to add to his season’s tally with team-mates Lewis Wilson, David Carlin and
Jake Surgey all on the mark. West 8 strikes from Shaun King and Jonathan
Andrews were never enough to trouble FC Geordie in an already impressive first season
in the top flight.

Saturday proved to be a day of shock results with league leaders AFC
Bridgford losing 2-1 at home to bottom club Netherfield Albion reserves, who
thoroughly deserved the points. Netherfield went in at the break two goals to the
good, the first from the spot slotted home by Dale Haton, and the second a fine 20 yard
strike from Frank Oloton that flew into the top corner. Bridgford did manage to
pull one back in the 2nd half with a superb free kick from Adam Bass but that
was as good as it got.
Another shock result of the day saw Nottingham Sikh Lions lose away
to Nottingham Community with a solitary strike from Mark Foster earning
the home team a much needed 3 points with this fantastic win.
A good day for Ina City and Santos who both capitalised on the
dropped points by the title chasing pack around them. Santos won away 2-0 at
AFC Top Valley in what the Santos manager described as a very dull, uneventful
wind affected game, but Dean Langdon did manage to add two to his seasons tally in
the process.
Ina City also took full advantage with a comfortable 4-0 victory at
home against West 8, a game that saw City notch up their first clean sheet of the season. Aaron
Montague scored from the spot and Jordan Smikle added a second before the break. Ishmael Bartley had a dream debut, coming off the bench to score a fine brace
to wrap up proceedings, and City move to with in two points of the top.
Strelley Rose got back to winning ways with a fine 3-2 win away at in
form FC Geordie. Lee Astill and Michael Nester scored for the home team, but a
brace from Lee Hodgkinson and a goal from Red Wilmot was enough to grab all three points for the visitors.
Another surprising result today was Vernon Villa getting thumped 5-2
away to Boots Athletic Res. Ricky Jackson, John Walton, Ashley McPherson and
Scott Peach (2) all hitting the net for the home team, with Ryan Henson bagging a brace for
the visitors
Crusader FC travelled to Gedling Southbank 'A' and both teams had to
settle for a share of the points with a one-all draw in a very wind affected game. Crusader took the lead after pressure from a Crusader striker lead to a calamitous error and OG from the Southbank keeper. The equaliser came from Needham in the second half, and despite his Assistant flagging for a blatant off-side, the Referee decided to ignore the flag and let the goal stand.

AFC Bridgford
kept up with their fine form as they eased past Vernon Villa with a comfortable
5-0 win. Bridgford opened the scoring against the run of play from a long throw
in, which was flicked into the net by Jake Henson. This was followed up with
the goal of the game from Dave Bass, a Pele style overhead volley to make it
2-0 at half time. Bridgford took full control in the second half and soon added
to their tally - substitute Tom Teer with a well-timed volley into the top
corner, assisted by some good work from Callum Lawson. Chris Martin added a fourth
with a deflected shot, and Tom Teer added a fifth to make it another good day
for Bridgford.
Ina
City kept up pace with Bridgford after another win on home soil in a tight game
against Nottingham Community. City ran out 4-2 winners, Ashley Brown, Alex
Wint, Jordan Smikle and Kamari Lewin all bagging for the home team, with a
stunning strike from Lance Thurgood and a smart finish from Tony Wilson in reply
for Nottm Community.
Santos
kept up with the leading pack thanks to an 8-1 demolition of Strelley Rose. Corkhill, Wheat, Longdon, King (2), Bussy and Foster
(2), were all on the score sheet for much fancied title contenders Santos, Red
Wilmot with the solitary response for Rose in this very impressive win.
Nottingham
Sikh Lions title push took a massive blow with a defeat away to in-form FC
Geordie where they went down 2-1, in the shock result of the day. Craig Martin
and Sam Malcolm both bagged for Geordie with Vishu Passi responding for NSL.
West
8 proved that the step up to the Premier division was the right decision, with
a comfortable 3-1 win away to bottom club Netherfield Albion Res. Courtney
Samuels, Shaun King and Sam Begley all bagging for the away team.
Crusader
FC continued with their poor form losing 3-1 away to Boots Res in a scrappy
game, where former Crusader player Mark Harrison again scored against his old
team to put the home side one to the good in the first half. The second half
was bit more open and Crusaders top scorer Luke Davies equalised but that was
as good as it got for Crusader. Errors and lack of energy gifted Boots two more
goals, the first from Jon Walton then a tidy finish from Dieon Moss sealing the
much needed 3 points.
AFC
Top Valley got back to winning ways with a crucial win, to move them further
away from the relegation pack after a fine 4-2 home win against Gedling
Southbank ‘A’. Ben Cummings, Joe Gunn,
Jack Swift and Jake Gunn all scoring for the hosts with replies from Peepe
Leeder and Ross Pritchard for the visitors.

The league leaders AFC Bridgford opened up a five point gap at the top of
the league with a narrow 3-2 win away to West 8. Bridgford controlled the first
half and went in at the break two goals to the good with strikes from in form
Jake Henson and Callum Lawson. Bridgford quickly made it 3-0 in the second half
with a smart finish from substitute Chris Martin. This sprung West 8 into life
and they hit back twice through Jonathan Andrews and Shaun King, but just
couldn't manage a third and Bridgford held on for maximum points.
Nottingham Sikh Lions moved to with in a point of second place with a
crushing 11-3 win at home to AFC Top valley. The goal fest included hat tricks
from Ryan Johnson (4) and Jason Rimmel, with Ayaz Khan, Fraaz Ahmed, Dwyane Anderson and Aaron Mohammed all
adding to the tally. Top Valley managed to score three goals of their own
through Curtis O'Neill and a brace for Jarrett Powell.
Santos kept up their title challenge with another comfortable home win, this
time winning 4-1 against struggling Netherfield Albion Reserves. Regular scorers Jake Corkill, Carl
Wilson, Dean Longdon and Dean Bussey all added to their impressive tallies.
Albion managed a consolation goal through Jake Horton.
Strelley Rose got back to winning ways with a 2-0 away win against Crusader.
Crusader dominated the first half, with
chance after chance squandered, and this profligacy along with some remarkable
saves from Strelley keeper Mark Austin, kept the scoresheet blank at the break.
The second half started off as a scrappy affair, but Strelley were starting to
get on top, and after 65 minutes a spell of pressure paid dividends with a
scrappy headed goal from Red Wilmott that gave the visitors the lead. Crusader
tried to chase the game, but just couldn't find the equaliser and in the
dying seconds Duane Haywood capitalised on a defensive error to slot the ball
past the keeper to round off the game.
Vernon Villa notched up another three points with a fine 3-0 win at home
against in-form FC Geordie, Ryan Harris firing a brace and Adam Evans bagging
to move Vernon up to sixth place in their continued rise up the table.
In an early relegation battle six pointer, Boots Athletic Reserves came out
on top away to Nottingham Community with a much needed 3-1 win. Mark Harrison
bagged a brace, one a follow up from a missed penalty, with Nick Murray
grabbing the other. Community player Mark Foster managed a solitary reply but
it was enough to prevent boots from claiming an important three points.

Title hopefuls Nottingham Sikh Lions and AFC Bridgford went head to head with Bridgford running out comfortable 1-4 winners, a suberb hat trick from Jake Henson in an important game was the highlight of Bridgford’s impressive result. Bridgford took an early lead with a tidy finish from Dave Bass, running onto a through ball and calmly slotting pass the keeper, followed by a brace in the 1st half by Jake Henson. The 2nd half started off with a good spell of possession by NSL and they got their reward midway through the half when Vishu Passi scrambled in from close range, but that proved to be nothing more than a consolation when Jake Henson raced through to complete his hat trick and kill off the game.
Ina City kept up the pressure on Bridgford with a 4-2 win away at struggling Boots Athletic. Goals from Eddie Knapczyk and Mark Harrison for boots were in vain as Ina City kept up their fine run of form.
Strelley Rose went down 2-1 away to West 8, the game was finely poised at 1-1 with 20 minutes to go until Strelley had a man sent off. West 8 made the extra man count to take maximum points - Alan Holroyd’s single goal not enough for the visitors.
Vernon Villa made light work of bottom side Netherfield Albion Reserves, running out comfortable 3-1 winners with Danny Fyffe, Nick Rose and Chris McCarthy all bagging for the home side, with a solitary goal for the visitors from Phil Whittam.
FC Geordie made it back to back wins with another four goal haul, this time away to Gedling Southbank 'A' , a fine 4-1 win. For the second week running Geordie boasted four different scorers with Lee Astill, Mason Bramwell, Jake Surgey and Dave Carlin all finding the net for the visitors.
Nottingham Community suffered 2-3 defeat at home at the hands of AFC Top Valley. The first half was dominated by Community and they went in at half time a goal to the good - a stunning strike from player manager Danny Morgan from fully 50 yards (take a bow son). Top Valley came out fighting in the second half and took control with an excellent quick fire hat trick in the space of twenty minutes from marksmen Jarrett Powell. In an end to end half, Luke Drysdale hit back for Community with ten minutes to go, but despite hitting the bar and piling on sustained pressure, the home team couldn't find the equaliser.

The goals were flying in today for the teams at the top with some
comprehensive victories for the title chasing pack. AFC Bridgford maintained top
spot with a 4-3 win at home to Gedling Southbank 'A', despite losing centre back
Church after 10 minutes to a deliberate hand ball on the line which was
despatched by GSB forward Patrick Backone. A goal from Bridgford forward Scott
Kirk, a fine volley, drew Bridgford level, but GSB took the lead once again with a
tap in from Karl Clowery that bounced over the keeper. Bridgford hit back
with a fine counter attack which was cooly finished off by Scott Kirk. Bridgford
then went behind a third time with an OG by left back Carmichael. Bridgford drew
level for the third time of asking with a tap in from Chris Martin. The goal
that finally won the game for Bridgford was a header by captain Tom Edwards
from 12 yards that keeps them top of the league.
Ina City kept hold of second spot by brushing aside Crusader FC 5-2
at home, with a fine display of attacking football full of pace and energy that
Crusader didn't deal with in the first half and went in at 4-2 with all the
work to do in the 2nd half. Ina City rushed into a two goal lead with fine close
range finishes from Alex Wint and Theo Staff, but Crusaders new signing Santos
Farrell hit back with a fine finish on the turn. Ina city hit back again with a
fine break away goal from Duval Osborne to make it 3-1 but Crusader hit back
again with fine work from Luke Davies to earn a penalty which was calmly
despatched by Dane Simpson. That was as good as it got for Crusader with City adding a 4th late in the first half and Alex Wint adding a 5th in 2nd
half injury time to keep their 2nd place in the league.
Nottingham Sikh lions maintained their fine run of results with a 1-6
demolition away to Netherfield Albion reserves, NSL boasting five different scorers
in an emphatic win with experienced marksman Stephen Barrett hitting a brace.
NSL took the lead through Malkit Singh with a close range effort but Netherfield
quickly equalised due to a poor defensive error which allowed Netherfields
forward to rip a shot into the top corner. Unfortunately that was as good as it
got for the Albion as NSL got into their stride and quickly hit back three more
times in the 1st half, one from Barrett and a couple of cool finishes from Ayaz
Kahn and Triston Matlock to put the away team in full control. The 2nd half was
very comfortable for NSL, Barrett adding a second and Dwayne rounding off a good
day for the Lions.
Santos again put another team to the sword on home soil, with a 6-3
victory against West 8 in a nine goal thriller with goals from Connor Scott-Parkin, Carl Wilson, James Foster, Dean Longdon, Kieran Wheat and Jake
Corkill. West 8 scorers were Alex Smith, Nick Brookes and Kyle Keetley. This
was a very open end to end game and West 8 are competing well in their first
season in the Premier Division.
Strelley Rose ran out comfortable 6-1 winners at home to Vernon Villa
Reserves. Vernon's cause wasn't helped with a depleted team through injuries, and having to play half the game with 10 men. After a slow start to the season
Strelley are starting to gather good momentum and moved up to 5th with this
emphatic win. Alan Holroyd found the net with two stunning strikes and Duane
Haywood added another brace, two tidy finishes to put Strelley in full
control. Jarvel Bertram and Red Wilmot also added to the tally to give Strelley
a comprehensive win on home soil.
FC Geordie, also new to the Premier Division, are also showing just
how capable they are at competing in the top division with another fine win at
home against Nottingham Community. FC ran out impressive 4-0 winners with goals
from Sam Malcolm, Lee Astill, Dave Carlin and Billy Weightman.
