Venue: The Stag Ground, Kimberley, Nottinghamshire.
Ok, so this wasn't a match played between local non-league teams, but for an inter-company game it wasn't half bad!
Mansfield based Bridgebank Ltd took on construction rivals Taylor Wimpey at the Stag, another few bob in the Kimberley MW kitty. The Welfare staff at the ground are gearing up for their first ever step 6 home game this weekend - they have a lot to do, but Danny Staley assured me that they will be ready!
The only reason I went to this game was to hopefully see enough goals to break the £100 charity barrier, but the teams played really well and took the game seriously - and entertained the 40+ spectators throughout the 90 minutes.
I have no idea of the players names, but Wimpey went ahead through their no. 12 shirt with three minutes gone - Bridgebank's no.6 levelled on 19. H-T 1-1
The Wimpey no. 12 settled the game on 70, clipping in at the near post. Not a classic, but certainly not the worst game I've seen. F-T 1-2
Charity: £2.25 - takes the total to £97.50 - should do the £100.00 at Heanor tomorrow - Lions' keeper Ian Deakin has promised a contribution!!
