Carlton went into this game knowing that a single point would secure them the runners up spot, Ilkeston already assured of the title thanks to their massive goal difference. Final league table.

Sat with Brian Dennett in the stand overlooking the players entrance - affords a superb view and kept us far enough away from "vuvuzela" man so that his hooting and chanting were not too much of a nuisance.

MICHAEL WILLIAMS opened the scoring for Ilkeston on 25, firing past Jack Steggles from the edge of the box. JOE BROTHWELL levelled for the Millers right on half-time, running through the home defence, beating three players before unleashing a shot from just inside the box that left keeper Jahquil Hill stranded. H-T 1-1

On 65, WILLIAMS netted again to restore the home team's lead, this time latching onto a ball played over the Carlton defence and slotting calmly past Steggles. BROTHWELL levelled with Carlton's next attack, heading home at the far post after the ball was played in from the right.

The Millers took the lead on 72, JOSH RAE heading home from a Jahred Russell free-kick. Another free-kick in the dying seconds saw the home team draw level. WILLIAMS hit the ball well enough  from 20 yards, but it looked a simple take for Steggles. Unfortunately the keeper allowed the ball to slip from his grasp and trickle through his legs into the goal. F-T 3-3

The players were presented with their respective trophies after the game, and it was very pleasing to see the Carlton players line up as an honour-guard for the Ilkeston lads. Strange though - no cheering, no champaigne - all very subdued and all very dignified.
