Derek Spray, Eddie Cook and Andy Harland - not a bad third team!!

After an Easter Bank Holiday Monday, there are usually few games on offer the day after, but staging this local derby a day late proved to be a winner for the club attendance wise, but not alas, on the pitch.

With nothing but bragging rights to play for, the teams locked horns on a dry but slightly chilly evening. With only the first team to cater for, the pitch was in superb shape - as good as we've seen all season. A lot of the players on show have been involved with both clubs, and for the first half the teams more or less cancelled each other out. H-T 0-0

Two errors from Welfare keeper Max Danby helped settle this game and send Arnold back to Eagle Valley with all three points, the first coming when the second half was barely five minutes old.

James Price launched a free-kick into the Gedling area and when Danby failed to gather under pressure, SIMON HORE reacted quickest and hooked the loose ball over his shoulder and into the net.

Another Price free-kick on 64 saw Danby elect to push the ball away rather than catch it. Unfortunately the ball fell to an Arnold player at the far stick and when it was played back across the goal, JIMMY SPIERS was on hand to fire home from close range. F-T 0-2

We usually enjoy our visits to Plains Road, but this visit was made special when Gedling MW made a fantastic donation to the "maggie's" fund - and Mike Hay also brought us a nice, warming cup of soup pitchside!

Admission: £5.00
Programme: £1.00 - probably the best we've seen all season.
Attendance: 217 -- fantastic - what a turn out! It's a good job the Welfare has an overflow car-park or we'd have been struggling!!
Charity: £1.50
MOM - Gedling MW committee. Thank you so much everyone.
